“Dear Paddy, At heart I do love the game of footy. It’s an institution of this country.

I grew up playing the game and enjoyed the moment on a regular basis (even broke a leg in two places) and my thumb being a goalie (saved the shot no score… broke thumb) Oh the joys of my youth.

Something happened… footballers became “professional” and teams became a business, it has taken the heart, soul, fun, sorrow and passion out and away from the sport.

Now in my 50’s I still like the game but only at the non-league (amature) level, they train hard, play on match days and then to cap it all  go back to their full-time jobs, now that is where REAL football is.”
