Cheryl Cole, formerly known as Cheryl Tweedy, is married to Chelsea footballer, Ashley Cole. Similar to fellow WAG and friend Victoria Beckham, she was famous before she married a footballer.

Cheryl started gearing up for the public eye from an early age. Growing up, she performed in a large number of modelling shows, sang, acted and participated in ballroom and ballet competitions. She was working as a waitress when she auditioned for ITV1’s Popstars: The Rivals and was catapulted to fame when she became a member of the winning girl group, Girls Aloud. The group has since achieved a record-breaking 16 consecutive Top 10 hits and over 4.2 million record sales in the UK alone, securing Cheryl’s independent celebrity status.

The Law and Cheryl Cole

This WAG has had her brushes with the law. During a night out at the Drink nightclub, she was involved in an altercation in the girls’ bathrooms and was charged with racially aggravated assault and assault occasioning bodily harm. Found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, she was sentenced to 120 hours of community service and ordered to pay her victim £500 as well as £5,000 in prosecution charges.

Ashley and Cheryl Cole Wedding

She married Ashley Cole on 15 July 2006. They signed a £1-million deal with OK! magazine to publish photographs of the wedding. Following the wedding was a rollercoaster ride – the couple told the press that they were marrying at Highclere Castle, but then changed their plans and tied the knot in Wrotham Park! Staff members were asked to keep their change of plans under wraps. Cheryl Cole’s wedding dress was designed by Roberto Cavalli and is reported to be worth £110,000.

There’s been media frenzy over Cheryl’s relationship with Ashley Cole, including rumours that she was having an affair with a man from Newcastle. These allegations were dismissed when Ashley claimed in his autobiography that the story couldn’t be true. Cheryl reportedly spends many nights alone at home while her husband is out with team mates. As yet, there have been no reports confirming these rumours.
