Lily blames EMI for album delay
Friday, August 22nd, 2008Lily blames EMI for album delay Lily Allen has blamed the delay of her forthcoming album on her record company EMI.
The Smile singer claims on her blog that changes at the organisation have held up the release of the record.
Some 2,000 jobs were axed when private equity firm Terra Firma bought EMI for £33.2 billion last year.
According to Allen, her album has "been finished for a while now".
"The record industry is a very political place at the moment," Allen wrote on her website.
"Lots of people have been fired or have taken redundancy recently as the company [EMI] was taken over.
"Many of these people were people assigned to my projects and now I don’t quite know what’s going on.
William Hill Bingo players may know that Lily’s first album Alright, Still produced hit singles such as Smile and LDN and has sold in excess of 1.8 million copies in the UK.
